WE REVIEW THE INJURIES OF MARC MÁRQUEZ

Marc Márquez is synonymous with determination, perseverance and improvement. There is no obstacle that stops you, in the face of any adversity you grow. However, our driver is on a streak of bad luck with multiple injuries. When it seems that the sun finally rises, the storm returns again, especially now that he has just suffered another serious injury. In another article we already taught you the length palmares of Marc Márquez, now we want to review with you all the injuries he has suffered during his career:

2011, FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH DIPLOPIA

When he was only 18 years old, one step away from winning the Moto 2 title, he suffered a head injury due to an accident during training in Malaysia and this caused him a slight diplopia . “Diplopia is a vision disturbance that consists of the perception of two images of the same object”, according to the Ocular Microsurgery Institute. It was a real nightmare for Márquez. He lost vision in his left eye, underwent surgery and was unable to run. He missed the last tests of the year and the title was taken by Stefan Bradi. Despite also missing the start of the 2012 season, he was able to quickly come back and win the 2012 championship.

2014, SECOND POTHOLE

In 2014, practicing dirt track (a modality of speed motorcycling) he suffered a fibula fracture . Fortunately, a few weeks later he was back on the slopes ready to start the 2015 season.

2018, SHOULDER TURN

When it seemed that the injuries had given him a truce, they appear again. In 2018 his left shoulder came out for the second time that season. It was his own brother Alex Márquez who replaced it. Thanks to surgery and a winter of rest and rehabilitation, he was able to get into 2019 well.

2019, THE SHOULDER REPEATS

That year he suffered the same injury again, but this time in the right shoulder . The recovery was somewhat longer and he could not return to the ring until 2020 at the Jerez circuit, in the middle of Covid. Everything seemed to be going great: he was leading the race in first position, but suddenly he crashed again. He gets back on the bike, already from the last position. The move is expensive for him, as he falls again, and this time the impact is more serious. He underwent surgery a couple of days later and, after attending training, had to retire and stay at home.

2021, BAD LUCK CHASEES YOU

On October 30, 2021, during training he suffered an accident on an enduro motorcycle. His head hit the ground and a few minutes later he began to see double. The doctor Sánchez-Dalmau confirmed the diplopia again. Three months later, in January, he had recovered.

2022, THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS

After a long recovery, Marc gets back on the bike this March 2022. During the Warm Up (warm-up) of the Indonesia GP 2022 he fell up to 4 times. The last one was fatal: a very hard fall, just 1 minute and a half after finishing the pre-race training. He went flying 2 meters from his Honda RC213V and the impact against the asphalt was tremendously violent. After undergoing medical tests, his worst nightmare was confirmed: he had suffered a craniocerebral trauma and his usual companion diplopia had visited him again. Márquez was declared unfit to contest the MotoGP Grand Prix in Mandalika. We will see if he can compete in the next appointments on the calendar.

Marc Márquez is an example of how the career of every athlete goes through moments of success and also through difficult moments. One day you may be celebrating winning a world title, and the next day suffering a serious injury. All of them serve as learning. If there is one thing we can learn from Marc, it is his iron spirit, his desire to excel and perseverance. Hopefully we can see him again soon on a motorcycle.
