Queralt Castellet, nuestra mejor promesa para los Juegos Olímpicos de Sochi

Queralt Castellet, our best promise for the Sochi Olympic Games

Saying that the snowboarder Queralt Castellet (Sabadell 1989) is the only Spanish representative in Snowboarding at the Olympic Games in Sochi (Russia), makes one realize the amount of time spent loses in sports like soccer or the like. The good part is that we know that if Queralt has gotten where he has, it is solely and exclusively because of his passion, work and discipline.
You don't have to thank any television channel or practically anyone (except your Sponsors). If your discipline is not media, nobody helps you. If nobody helps you and you're still standing, you're a crack from head to toe. Congratulations Queralt!!
So as in The Indian Face we believe that there is life after Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi (it's not that we don't like this sport, but we have studied very thoroughly for many years about the beyond of football stadiums and definitely We attest that there IS life after football and by the way, a life that is much cooler) so we have selected a very important figure in the world of Snowboarding such as Queralt Castellet to chat for a while with her and do a little interview with her.

To say that it only took us two hours to locate her through her press officer David Blay. It is clear that you can be a crack and not be a "Divo/a" and not die trying. This reminds me of a Snow trip we did at Christmas exactly 4 years ago, where we met Aksel Lund Svindal in a "transfer" from Munich to Sölden station. A person who traveled with us, without any kind of security or bodyguards, or with eccentricities who turned out to be, just a few weeks later, the skier who won the most medals at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. He joined us in order to get to Innsbruck where his technical team was waiting for him. The number 1 in alpine skiing stuck in a taxi with 6 strangers. Just like with soccer stars.

Here we leave you a few lines about Queralt Castellet and the comments he made to us in our telephone conversation. If you don't know her, don't stop cheering her on right now as she participates in the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games, believe me she deserves all the encouragement in the world.

X Games Aspen and Barcelona 2014

In her first X Games, Queralt finished 7th and in Aspen 2014 5th, a worse result than she expected due to a first-round knockdown: “I'm happy with the result because despite the crash I was able to stay in 5th position so I can't complain”.

I don't know if you know that some X Games Barcelona 2014 games were being organized but they were finally canceled due to budget cuts. Castellet was at the previous games and he is clear that they have to be held there again: “I was at the previous X Games in Barcelona and the setup was very good but it rained a lot. Barcelona is a great city that deserved the 2014 Games as much for recognition and popularity as for its athletes”.

Winter Olympic Games (Sochi, 2014)

Queralt participated for the first time at the age of 17 in the Winter Olympic Games (Turin, 2006) placing 26th in the Halfpipe discipline. Eight years later, it starts as one of the favourites.

Regarding the upcoming Winter Olympic Games to be held in Sochi (Russia) and the pressure from the media that is betting on her as one of the Spanish promises to reach the podium, Castellet quite humbly explains “ I try to stay out of the news, from what they talk about me because I only want the pressure that I put on myself. I am going to get the best and that is the only thing that worries me, what I can do, not what they say about me”.

100% commitment to snowboarding

he Left his Marketing career, his family and friends and began to follow the winter around the world so he could snowboard and be fit in all the competitions.

When it is summer here, she is training in New Zealand where she lives most of the year and when winter comes to the Northern hemisphere she prepares in the USA.USA “where the best conditions are for training” and participates in all the championships that are held. “The hardest thing has been separating from my family but in Spain the conditions for training are not met so I had to make the decision to go to New Zealand and commit 100% to snowboarding. There will be time to be home!".

Advice from a snowboarding pro

We've asked you to get wet and pick a rider, board, and station. Here's what she tells us:

The best rider: “the one with the most talent is the American Danny Davis and the one with the most jumping ability is the Canadian Mark McMorris”.

The best board: “Yonex, it's a very personal choice, it's the one that fits you. Yonex is a Japanese brand of carbon fiber and does not use wood, so it is much lighter and its rigidity lasts a long time. It has taken me many years to get the perfect type of board: width, stiffness, etc.”.

Best Season: Mammoth (California)

Castellet knows that all this would not have been possible if it weren't for his sponsors: “I wouldn't have gotten here if it hadn't been for my sponsors: the Spanish Ski Federation, Yonex, Red Bull and Oakley. I am very grateful”.

Good luck Queralt!

To finish this post we leave you several videos of Queralt. Enjoy them!!
