This 2020 has been a year of challenges and radical changes in our lives. We have seen how from work to pure entertainment, they have had to slow down and adapt to new circumstances. Most sectors have had to reinvent themselves, and in this case, the sporting events that we are used to waiting for and enjoying year after year are not far behind.

OLYMPIC GAMES 2021

The most anticipated Olympic games! After its cancellation in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Vice President of the International Olympic Committee stated that the event will take place “with or without” coronavirus, on 23 July 2021.

The theme of the 2021 Olympic Games will continue to be “reconstruction after the devastation caused by the tsunami”, alluding ton the earthquake and tsunami that devastated the Northeast Japan in 2011.

WORLD ROAD CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021

The LXXXVII Cycling Road World Championships will take place in the region of Flanders, Belgium between 19 and 26 September 2021. This year it was also possible to carry out in Imola, Italy; although the championship was originally going to be held in the Swiss towns of Aigle and Martigny, but the cycling federation of that country announced the cancellation of the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although it has not been the same luck for the fans of the Tour Down Under and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Race, who have been the first races to announce their cancellation for 2021. Two of the major events on the international calendar issued an official statement with the difficult decision.

2021 WORLD TOUR SURF CHAMPIONSHIP
Just like cycling, the surfing championship schedule was altered and postponed during 2020 due to the global emergency of Covid-19, however, the CEO of the World Surf League, Erik Logan, announced many news and defined what will be the next World Surf Championship as a new era . The first “post-Covid-19” world surfing championship brings with it news for this 2021, in which the protagonists and the general public will have to get used to it.

One of the main changes for the upcoming season is that the 2021 tour will end with the finals taking place on a single day of competition in September 2021, where the world titles Men's and Women's will be decided in a single event, called “the WSL Finals”.

X GAMES 2021

The X Games are also looking forward to 2021, after they canceled their summer edition. ESPN resumes the winter sports competition from January 29 to 31 at Buttermilk Mountain, Aspen Snowmass (Colorado, United States).

An event where the best riders in the world of skiing and snowboarding meet to measure their skills and disciplines of slopestyle, halfpipe or big air. As with the rest of the events, the X GAMES will also have to adapt to the new prevention measures due to the pandemic, to ensure the safety of the staff and all the athletes.
Some of the new measures that they will implement, is that it will be an event without an audience, allowing fans to watch it through ESPN or streaming. Nor will there be disciplines such as the snowmobile and snowbike.
Good news for this upcoming season is that the presence of the laureate Shaun White will stand out, who has not competed since 2017, and additionally there will be the presence of the athlete Chloe Kim, a specialist in the test from halpipe, from snowboard.

FIS WORLD FREESTYLE SKI AND SNOWBOARD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021

The 14th FIS World Snowboard Championships has announced its next celebration in the town of Zhangjiakou, China from February 18 to 28, 2021, under the Organization of the International Ski Federation and the China Ski Federation.

The Alpine Ski World Cup will take place in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, in February 2021, with scheduled dates from 8 to 21, as confirmed by the International Ski Federation (FIS). In the event that the current health situation continues, it is considered to hold the event behind closed doors, with the possibility of even canceling it in the event that everything worsens.

RALLY DAKAR 2021
The 2021 edition of the most brutal rally in the world starts on 2 January with the prologue stage Jeddah-Jeddah that will have 11 kilometers of special and 118 link. The edition will end on Friday, January 15 with the Yanbu-Jeddah stage.

The 2021 Dakar Rally route is all about exploration, starting from Jeddah heading east to the Empty Quarter, the wildest desert in Saudi Arabia. From there it will go north, to later skirt the Red Sea to the south and return to Jeddah on January 15.
The 2021 edition of the Daka Rallyr will be particular, but its director, David Castera, recalled that Saudi Arabia presents enough terrain to vary the routes and that all measures will be taken necessary in the face of the Covid-19 crisis. O MARISQUIÑO 2021

A benchmark festival in southern Europe since its creation in 2001, on action sports and urban culture. 2020 should be a good year for this sporting event since the festival was celebrating its 20th anniversary. Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic, organizational and security difficulties, it had to be suspended for next year, the organization explained in an official statement. The festival plans to celebrate and postpone its 20th edition until summer 2021.

As we have already mentioned, 2020 has taught us and left us many lessons, including the importance of understanding and practicing more sport.
What we do know is that we will welcome 2021 with open arms, leaving behind a year that put us to the test many times but prepared us for an even better one.
