Today, January 15 and 25, the Snowboard World Championships will take place at the Kreischberg station (Austria). During these 10 days of competition, the snowboardcross, halfpipe, slopestyle, parallel SL, big air and parallel GS tests will be held.

It is a special moment because the army of Spanish snowboarders is in shape and aspires to everything. We review the Spanish members who are going to participate in this World Championship.

The Spanish snowboardcross (SBX) squad of the RFEDI made up of Regino Hernández (winner of three World Cups in Gangow in 2009, La Molina in 2011 and Stoneham in 2013) and Lucas Eguibar and Laro Herrero (two World Championships: La Molina in 2011 and Stoneham 2013), will compete on January 15 and 16 to win the SBX test. The goal of the San Sebastian snowboarder is to qualify among the top 15. Hernández, from Sierra Nevada, for his part, wants to do his best, and after his good results last season his motivation is to be among the eight best. And the Spaniard Herrero also intends to surpass himself and finish in top positions, he believes that it would be good for him to be among the top five or ten in the championship. Israel Planas, coach and coach of the team, thinks that the athletes arrive at a great moment after a very well worked pre-season.

Let's not forget that both Hernández in 2011 and Eguibar in 2013 were Junior SBX World Champions and in 2014 both stood on the podium in the World Cup of this specialty so they aspire to everything in this new appointment. Regino participated in the Olympic Games in Vancouver 2010 and the three coincided in Sochi 2014, where the one from Donosti was awarded an Olympic diploma by obtaining seventh place.

Queralt Castellet (three World Cups: Arosa 2007, Gangow 2009 and Stoneham 2013) will compete in the halfpipe event on January 16 and 17. The snowboarder from Sabadell participated, at just 17 years old, in her first Olympic Games in Turin 2006 (she also attended the Olympic Games in Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014) and since then she has become a reference in the half pipe modality. In these World Cups a good performance is expected from her and a good result from her after the preseason that she has done in New Zealand and her current training sessions in Switzerland. She assures that she will go all out and that she will try to be on the top of the podium.

María Hidalgo , the youngest Spanish member of the team at 17 years old, will participate in her first World Championships and will compete between January 19 and 21 in the Slopestyle modality. The goals of the also Catalan are to participate, compete well and enjoy the experience in this important event.
