Toni Medina: the hybrid street and freestyle skater
Toni Medina is a 26-year-old skateboarder from Blanes, a town on the Costa Brava, and has been skating since he was nine years old. He fell in love with this sport watching videos of Powell Peralta and Kevin Harris and the modality that most caught his attention was freestyle. He currently works as a gardener in his town and studies English in his spare time (besides practicing skateboarding in Blanes and Barcelona). His goal for him is to consolidate his own style and create a repertoire of tricks that have never been seen before. He wants to do it by merging his freestyle essence with street and mini ramp in a way that translates into original and unpublished moves and tricks. In a notebook he writes down the tricks that occur to him and when he has mastered them, he crosses them out. Based on effort and imagination, he was named the best pro rider of the year 2014 in skateboarding, something he can be very proud of.
