Alvaro Fiuza wins his fifth consecutive descent from Sella

Our member of the The Indian Face TEAM Alvaro Fiuza wins his fifth consecutive descent from Sella together with his teammate Walter Bouzan. They have won today, with a time of 1 hour 6 minutes and 43 seconds, the 78th edition of the International Descent of the Sella.

In the crowded start of Arriondas, the winning K-2 had some problems to start its journey among the 644 participating boats (with 895 palmists from more than seventeen countries in the world) which allowed Martínez and José Julián Becerro to take the first position with the South Africans Andrew Birkett and Greg Low.

With several thousand people participating from the banks of the river in the 'Fiesta de las Piraguas', the paddlers faced the twenty kilometers of the route through a channel with a high flow that made it difficult to approach the record of the test, set since 2009 at 1 hour 1 minute and 14 seconds.

The equality between the leading group was present until the last kilometer where we could see a great change of pace from Walter Bouzán and Alvaro Fiuza that broke the group and allowed them to prevail in first position with solvency in the sprint to Emilio Merchán and Iván Alonso, who achieved second position ahead of the South African couple in a similar time to the winners.
