If adventure and challenge had a name, it would be Jesús Calleja. Explorer, adventurer, mountaineer, and communicator, the famous León native Jesús Calleja has carved out a significant niche for himself in the world of extreme sports. From a very young age, this mountaineer's life has been focused on the mountains—his passion, his life.
He began his first adventures by choosing to climb the famous Picos de Europa, as well as mountains located in the surrounding areas, later increasing the level of risk and danger in his exploits.
He has even worked as a mountain guide in Nepal for over 16 years, a destination he has visited more than 60 times. After discovering that he was completely captivated by the mountains, he decided to go even further and opted to become a mountaineer-communicator, participating in the renowned program "Desafío Extremo," which has been broadcast for seven seasons.
During the recording of this program, he had the opportunity to travel across five continents, showing his audience the adventures he has experienced during his many expeditions.
One of Jesús Calleja's greatest dreams since childhood was to reach the summit of Mount Everest, and in 2005, he finally made his dream a reality. After many years of training to succeed in such an adventure and reach the highest point of this unexplored mountain, he embarked on this expedition, reaching his dream goal on May 30th, becoming the first Spaniard to climb the south face that year.
It's worth noting that Jesús Calleja has climbed three eight-thousanders: Cho Oyu, Everest, and Lhotse. In addition to having conquered the highest peaks on each of the five continents, Jesús Calleja has set foot in Antarctica three times on exploratory voyages, both by air and sea. And if that weren't enough, the adventure doesn't end there, as this daring and adventurous mountaineer also pilots cars, motorcycles, helicopters, and small planes.
His passion for vehicles has led him to participate in various competitions, such as the American Dakar Rally, the Pharaohs Rallies (Egypt), and the Africa Race. But this adventurous mountaineer's ambitions don't end there. His eagerness to see, learn, discover, and experience new emotions and sensations has led him to dive among sharks, climb erupting volcanoes, search for polar bears, and even descend into a deep cave at a whopping 1,650 meters, among many other adventures, each one more surprising than the last.
Always committed to pushing his own limits, Jesús Calleja has been bringing adventure, risk, and excitement to his audiences for many years.
