THE PALMARES OF MARC MÁRQUEZ

Marc Márquez Alentà is one of the most important riders on the current MotoGP scene. Not only one of the best, at 29 years old, the Catalan has already made history in motorcycling. At 17, he was the youngest rider to win a MotoGP championship. Wearing the Repsol Honda colors since 2013, we have seen Márquez grow, win, lose, excel… and always with a smile. He has already had many victories, but it is not surprising in an athlete who has so many qualities: hardworking, self-demanding, brave, passionate, close, charismatic... His enormous talent, his intelligence and his insatiable sacrifice will probably lead him to become the best pilot in history.

In another article we have told you 10 things about the pilot that you should know, now we want you to know its beginnings and, of course, its palmarés.

MARC MÁRQUEZ, FROM CHILD TO LEGEND

Marc Márquez was born in the year 1993 in Cervera, Lleida. Maybe you didn't know it, but this is the number he chose for his bib, 93. Since he was born he already had a passion for the motor. At the age of 4, Marc asked the Three Kings for a motorcycle. It may seem like something very normal in a letter to the kings of a small child, but in his case it was something else. The following year, at just 5 years old, he competed for the first time in a motorcycle race, specifically in an enduro race, the “Enduro per nens”. Since 2002, that is, at the age of 9, he began to stand out in speed motorcycling, competing in the Catalan championship and in the 50 cc Open RACC. At the age of 15, he competes in the Continental Circus, the motorcycle world championship. In 2004 he runs the 125 c. speed Championship of Catalonia.c and is in second position, behind Pol Espargaró. A year later he disputed it again and this time he was crowned champion, a victory that he would maintain the following year. In 2010 he achieved the title of world champion of motorcycling in 125 c.c He was only seventeen years old and had already achieved something that no Spanish driver had achieved before: winning a world championship so young. His second world championship would be in 2012, already in Moto 2. Despite not having been his best season, the Catalan once again demonstrated that no one can beat him when it comes to pushing the accelerator. The final was something legendary: he came out in last position and came back from 32 rivals, to take off his hat.

MÁRQUEZ'S INCLINATION, HIS RISKY SIGN OF IDENTITY

Márquez has his own style on the bike. The man from Cervera likes to take risks when running. He enters the corners in a way that is reminiscent of a cross rider, allowing him to ride the straights down to the last thousandth of a second and secure a better time. But without a doubt his hallmark is skidding a lot, going as far as dragging his elbows across the asphalt. He is the driver who leans the most when taking the curves. Do you know how much it leans? Outrageous: 68 degrees. Can it be said that Márquez has created a new style? Surely most would answer yes. However, the pilot Jean Philippe Ruggia in the nineties was already a pioneer in putting his body and hitting the knee to the asphalt.

Another of its hallmarks is the ant. It is a very representative symbol of Márquez. You know why? The ant is an insect that is characterized by being very small and having tremendous strength. The ants can lift up to 50 times their weight, and they also stand out for the communication between them. They are synonymous with strength, work and perseverance , which represents Márquez. Marc started very small and little by little, with a lot of effort, he made his way among the greats, getting to where he is today.

2015 was not an easy year for Marc Márquez. Some accidents made him undergo surgery... However, it was a year of learning. In 2016, the Catalan applied everything he had learned the previous year and won the world championship again, something that seemed unimaginable at the start of the season. In 2018 he won the world championship again. At the Motegi circuit, the world title was played with Rossi, his eternal rival. Once again, Márquez won. It would already be his seventh world title.

At the 2019 Thai GP, after an impeccable season, the Catalan won a world title for the ninth time. This time it was celebrated with a pool table, and Marc put in the black boa with the number 8.

THE MACHINE OF MÁRQUEZ

In 2013, Márquez joined the Repsol Honda team. In turn, it was launched for the first time in MotoGP. Since then, he has ridden the same bike to this day. It is the model RC213V. With it, Márquez was proclaimed winner in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Honda created this bike with the best features and using the newest materials. It has a 1000cc four-stroke engine.

This 2022 brings news for the rider, and that is that we will see Márquez with a new version of the RC213V. If we refer to the design, it does not vary much, in broad strokes it maintains the color scheme, but they have made an effort to include changes in the technical part. Taking Yamaha as inspiration, they have implanted a front air intake, with a touch that reminiscent of Formula 1 Williams. The result? A motorcycle that reminds us a bit of a "walrus nose". Two goals were set for this new bike. First of all, that this is more manageable for any driver, and thus not depend so much on Márquez. Secondly, make it easier for Márquez to manage, after his physical injuries.
