The range of sports activities that we can do in Madrid is inexhaustible, we could make a plan every week and we would never get tired.
If you like adrenaline, action and enjoy adventure, there are 7 plans that cannot be missing from your list of upcoming plans for those who have already tried everything (or so they think). Today we bring you a list of the sports plans you have to do in Madrid, with different options for any time of the year:
PLANS TO DO IN MADRID WHEN IT'S HOT
- PADDLE SURFING IN THE SAN JUAN SWAMP
Yeah, paddle surfing, just like you hear it. Do not frown for being in Madrid or make a strange face. Even in the interior of the country you can practice sea sports. There are different places like the Los Ángeles de San Rafael Reservoir, the Guadiela River or the Sierra Norte where you can have fun on the board, but our favorite is undoubtedly the San Juan Reservoir. Just 1 hour from Madrid you will have a reservoir with 14 km of artificial beach. Don't think about it anymore, grab your board and a paddle and jump into the water. It's your first time? Don't have the equipment? That is not a problem. In the reservoir there is a paddle surf school that will teach you your first steps and will offer you all the necessary material.
And what to take in your bag for an afternoon of paddle surfing? You can't go without your Born to Paddle surf cap, it will protect you from the sun and give your look a touch.
- SURFING AT HONNA SURF HUB
Have you ever thought that you can surf the best waves while in Madrid? We have told you, Madrid always surprises. No more waiting for the series to arrive, enduring the cold or someone stealing your wave. At Honna Surf Hub you can surf a wave that never ends, from Monday to Friday, any day of the year. Who was going to tell you that the best spot is in Alcorcón? But it is much more than a wave. Here you can relax watching the best sunset, enjoy events, try all the breakfasts, meals, cocktails. and much more! It is the paradise of all surfers who live in the capital. Simply choose the day and time, make your reservation on the web and wear a swimsuit, they will take care of the rest. A fun experience to go with friends!
- CANYONING IN SOMOSIERRA
An option for the most daring spirits! canyoning is a sport in which, aided by ropes and other safety systems, you descend on foot through natural places such as ravines. It may sound dangerous, but if you are accompanied by an experienced professional and just follow their instructions, you don't have to worry. The best? You will be in the middle of a spectacular landscape, a real treat for the eyes. If you are in Madrid and want to get started in the world, we recommend that you take the car and go to the Somosierra ravine, where you will learn from Planet Sport. The class includes a licensed guide, all the necessary material and insurance. Book on their website and spend an afternoon among canyons, rivers and waterfalls.
- WAKEBOARDING
There are few sports more addictive than wakeboarding. An afternoon wakeboarding on a boat is one of the first images that comes to mind when we think of summer. You know what we're talking about right? In the San Juan Reservoir you can hire the Wakea Experience and enjoy an afternoon of adrenaline and having a good time with friends. There they will leave you special boots that are fixed to the board and all the equipment, the instructors are specialists... and it even includes a food menu for when you leave the session. It's hilarious and you won't want to leave.
PLANS TO DO IN MADRID WHEN IT'S COLD
- ROUTE ON HORSE
Have you ever ridden a horse? Would you like to tour the countryside on the back of a horse? If you have never done horse riding, you will love this plan. At the Centro Hípico Buitrago del Lozoya you can enjoy a route on horseback through the Sierra Norte de Madrid, a privileged natural enclave, a true treasure. They will explain everything you need to learn to ride and they will leave you the case. Without a doubt, a perfect option to give to your partner. They run from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year, so it's always a good time!
We recommend you wear sunglasses to protect you from the sun's rays and make your walk more pleasant. For a plan through the countryside we really like Arrecife model.
- INDOOR GOLF
Playing golf in the center of Madrid is already a reality. Lovers of this sport who live in Madrid have already found a new way to do what they like the most. All thanks to H0 Golf House. It is a golf simulation center in which, thanks to its Trackman technology, you will believe that you are playing on the grass. It is the perfect alternative for those days when it is very cold, for those weekdays when you do not have the weather you would like and perfect if you are looking to improve your game in an agile way. The experience is incredible, they quantify all your data: the trajectory of the shot, the precise signaling of the landing of the ball... all the information about the impact and the hit. But H0 is much more than golf. After a golf session you can enjoy its exquisite menu at its bar or even attend events.
- CALLING CALL
The climbing walls are ideal spaces for playing sports, socializing and having fun. For this reason, after the pandemic we are living the golden age of climbing, which is gaining more and more followers. If you have never tried climbing, in Madrid there are many options for climbing walls where you can start. Our favorite is Sputnik Climbing. With a center in Alcobendas and another in Las Rozas, the latter has 4,000 climbable meters and is 20 meters high. It is one of the largest climbing walls in Madrid, with a boulder room of 850 m2. It is open every day of the week and has a canteen where you can have a drink after training.
These are our recommendations for sports plans to do in Madrid both in the hot and cold months. There are options for all tastes, call a couple of friends and dare to spend a different day, you will have a great time!
