Today we bring you a list of the best snow parks for freestyle snowboarding on the European continent. It's not a ranking, it's a list... and we welcome suggestions. If you know of a European snow park relatively close to Spain where you've tried this type of snowboarding and loved it, let us know!
Sierra Nevada
A benchmark in the national and European snowboarding community. With over two and a half kilometers and more than 70 sections, including a large superpipe, it's a major snow park. Kids Park also allows youngsters to get started with snowboarding and freestyle.
Avoriaz (France)
In the French Alps, we recommend the La Chapelle snow park, with a 120-meter-long superpipe and walls over six meters high. Arare has another very interesting snow park with natural obstacles.
Mayrhofen (Austria)
Austria's most interesting resort for snowboarding and one of the best places, by the way, to practice
Grandvalira
Andorra's best freestyle ski resort. El Tarter is the official home of the annual Total Fight Masters Championship, a competition that is gaining international acclaim. Suitable for all levels, it features more than 20 jumps and a superpipe in its more than 1,400 meters of park.
Oslo Winter Park (Norway)
As for freestyle snowboarding, it's the most interesting snowpark in Northern Europe. Its facilities feature 30 rail modules, a one-hectare halfpipe, over four meters high, and a 15-degree slope. It also has a Superpipe, over seven meters high, with a 17-degree slope and 160 meters long. It's a somewhat expensive resort, but it offers top-quality facilities.
The Molina
The Alabaus Snowpark, at the La Molina resort, is equipped with a 170-meter-long superpipe, walls over five meters high, rails, and boxes. This park hosted the 2011 International Snowboard Federation Snowboard World Championship.
Formigal
Much simpler and easier, suitable for less advanced and even inexperienced riders. However, it's perfect for training and getting some exercise. It has a rail, a nearly 10-meter Big Air module, and a stair module. We love its Terrain Park!
Vallnord
In direct competition with Grandvalira in the Andorran Pyrenees, the most interesting snow park in this case is Arinsal. With more than 20 modules and seven jumps, it also has a practice area.
Cortina d'Ampezzo (Italy)
Located in the Dolomites, its landscapes are breathtaking and fascinating. The area has more than 20 snow parks rich in features to give your boards a workout. You can see more in this video:
Astún
Like Formigal, it's a simple, not very large resort. Suitable for beginners in freestyle, it features a fixed halfpipe, boxes, tubes, and pyramid modules. You'll also find good quality off-piste snow in Astún.
