HOW DOES A HAIR BALLOON WORK?

Hot air balloons work in a very particular way, in which all its parts align perfectly to reach the desired heights in the air.

The inflation of the balloon is perhaps the most important part, because it is there that the magic of these wonderful trips begins.

It consists of two parts. First of all, the balloon (made of impermeable synthetic material such as nylon or polyester) is unfurled on the surface of the ground, where cool air is blown into it using a large fan. The next thing is to use a propane burner that introduces hot air between 80 to 110 degrees Celsius (helium or propane) straightening and giving shape to the balloon, which remains there until it is ready to take off.

Account of a casing and a basket joined by cables, with a rustic shape, almost always made of wicker (the basket). The burners direct the flame of fire that heats the material toward the start of the balloon wrapper to inflate it.

It is precisely the difference in the density of the air inside that keeps it this way, since it differs from the density of the air outside. It will be this difference in the densities of the internal and external air that later guarantees the height that the balloon reaches when it is already elevated because, once they are leveled, the balloon will start its overflight process as normal.

The management of densities is controlled safely and efficiently by the trained pilot in charge of directing the balloon, and all the adventurers on the ride who go in the great wicker basket. The truth is that they are at the mercy of the wind and their task will be to find the perfect current for the balloon to travel in the heights through it.

The volume of the balloons depends on each model and how much load capacity they can support, but normally they are models that hold 1.800m3 to 3000m3 of air.

Complementarily, navigation and safety instruments are used: thermometer, altimeter, varioaltimeter (or variometer), compass and GPS, radio and fire extinguisher.

The "effortlessness" with which the balloons travel is apparent, since the pilot must be very well experienced and oriented to fulfill the task of introducing the balloon into the correct and suitable air currents to follow its direction to the desired height.

DO HAIR BALLOONS “FLY”?

To think that hot air balloons fly is a valid question, since we certainly feel that we are flying above the surface, and ballooning is often called flights, but the reality is that they do not themselves fly. Hot air balloons float in the wind, given the physical theory that hot air weighs less than cold air and therefore rises.

This does not take away from the feeling of flying to the experience, although the balloon actually floats above the surface of the earth, giving the adventurer a completely different and unique experience among the rest.
