1. PLAYA JOYEL CAMPING
The jewel in the crown. It is no coincidence that Playa Joyel was awarded by the Spanish Federation of Campsites with the Award for the Best Beach Campsite 2017. And not only that, also in 2014 TripAdvisor awarded it the Certificate of Excellence and the Tourism Quality Commitment seal. It has 4 stars and is located right on Ris beach, in the town of Noja, inside the Trasmiera Ecopark Nature Reserve. It offers the best services: swimming pools, jacuzzi, tennis and paddle tennis courts, playgrounds for children, WiFi access, green areas, ice cream stands, bars... and of course, direct access to the beach. From the campsite you can reach the city of Santander in just 40 minutes by car. It is perfect to go in large groups or with smaller ones. It opens between the months of April and September and we recommend that you book in advance.
2. VIORNA CAMPING
If you want to spend a few days in the greenest Cantabria, this is your campsite. The La Viorna campsite is just 1 kilometer from Potes, right on the road that leads to the Monastery of Santo Toribo de Liébana. Needless to say, the views are scandalous. From there you can immerse yourself in the heart of Cantabria and visit a number of natural parks. Just 14 km to the west you have the Los Picos de Europa National Park; to the north, the Hermida Gorge; to the east, the Sierra de Peña Sagra and the Valles Altos del Nansa and Saja and, to the south, the Fuentes Carrionas and Fuente Cobre Natural Park. In short, you are surrounded by pure green. It is the perfect option if you like hiking, running in the mountains, walking outdoors... It is one of the best valued, and no wonder. You can stay in an apartment or sleep in your caravan or tent by renting a pitch. It offers all kinds of services: two outdoor swimming pools, a children's area, green spaces... and even a bowling alley. It also has hot water, washers, dryer, WiFi... The little ones will have a great time! It is open only in spring and summer, from April to October. The price of the plot is very cheap: 13.80 euros in low season and 15.90 in high season (July 15 - August 25) and is valid for car and tent, car and caravan or motorhome.
3. LAS ARENAS CAMPING
The west of Cantabria is an authentic paradise that you cannot miss. Its mountains, its estuaries... There is an estuary that is a true spectacle to behold, the Tina Mayor. It marks the border between Cantabria and its neighbor Asturias. A seafaring enclave, where you can relax and stroll through its towns, get on one of its boats... soak up that flavor of the sea. There is a hidden beach, the Playa de las Arenas, where our third recommendation is located. Its location is unbeatable and its landscapes seem to be taken from a movie. If you are a lover of the sea and fishing, look no further. You will be able to practice your favorite hobby and fish for the best sea bass, salmon... But it is not only the favorite of fishermen, the variety of holm oaks, oaks, pines and other specimens make this campsite the ideal place for those who want to relax in a secluded place and disconnect from the noise, rush and traffic jams. And if you want to play sports, you can enjoy activities such as rafting, surfing, canoeing, golf, diving... there are options for all tastes. From here you can take a 1.5 km walk along the Cantabrian coast to the small town of Pechón, the unknown Eden of Cantabria, or visit Santillana del Mar, Llanes, the Lakes of Covadonga... The campsite has restaurant, cafeteria, swimming pool, showers, laundry... It is very well connected, just 2 km from the Cantabrian highway and the service will make you feel at home.
4. OYAMBRE CARAVANING
Have you been to San Vicente de la Barquera or Comillas? If the answer is no, it is a sin. San Vicente de la Barquera and Comillas will probably be two of the most charming towns in Spain. Two treasures in which to get lost in beautiful Cantabria. Right halfway between the two we find Oyambre beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the region. Two kilometers of golden sand, away from the crowds and with incredible waves make it a paradise for surfers and windsurfers. The best? You can stay in your own campsite: Caravaning Oyambre. It has different areas, from plots to bungalows or cabins, so you can choose the one that best suits you. In addition, it offers areas such as sports courts, indoor swimming pools, areas for children... It is the best option for surfers, but it does not only attract lovers of the sea. In Caravaning you can try activities such as hiking, golf or Mountain Biking... You will have a great time!
5. EL ROSAL CAMPING
Our fifth and last recommendation is also in the Oyambre Natural Park. It is such a beautiful area that, if you have the opportunity to travel to Cantabria, it should be a mandatory stop. The campsite El Rosal is located in front of San Vicente de la Barquera, making it ideal for strolling through this charming little fishing village and visiting historical places such as the Church of Santa María de los Ángeles, the Old Convent of San Luis or the Castle. The campsite has an area for tents and caravans, as well as 25 fully equipped bungalows. It is between the beaches of El Tostadero and Merón, so you can cross the sand barefoot with your board under your arm. In addition, you can visit the Cabárceno Nature Park , where you will discover animals of all species; delve into the deep caves of El Soplao and Altamira or climb the Picos de Europa.
