SALINAS WEBCAM: THE BEST TO SEE THE STATE OF THE BEACH AND THE WAVES
Salinas (Salinae) is a small parish located in Castrillón, very close to Avilés, on the Asturian coast. With barely 5,000 inhabitants, it is a privileged area, with a stately past and a strong surfing influence. With the sea as the protagonist, it is a more than appetizing place to spend the summer. Due to its conditions, Salinas beach is one of the beaches that receives the most holidaymakers each year in Asturias.
WHAT IS SALINAS BEACH LIKE?
This beach is 1.2km long, but it is linked to San Juan sandbank, and together they add up to 3km of golden sand, forming in the center the Natural Monument of the Dunes of El Espartal . It has a perfect promenade to enjoy a quiet walk. The views are beautiful, from elegant mansions to surfhouses (shelters for surfers) , many of them were old workers' houses, a combination full of charm.
SALINAS AND SURFING
But if Salinas beach stands out for something, it is for surfing. It is one of the best spots in the Cantabrian Sea for surfers, especially for longboard fans. The conditions are idyllic: good waves all year round, little wind, bathing glassy... The wind that best hits this beach is from the south and southeast if you want to surf in the most central area of the beach, and from south and southwest to the west of the beach (Balneario).
Surfing is a very unpredictable sport, since it totally depends on climatic factors, possible changes in winds, rising and falling tides... if you want to go surfing, it is best to anticipate. Analyze the conditions that are going to occur, take advantage of the webcams. The webcam is something that makes life much easier for us surfers. It offers us a real-time view of how a beach is, its current conditions and forecasts for the following hours...
